Google India announced a partnership with one of the best India’s public Wi-Fi provider O-Zone Networks, to provide free Wi-Fi access on mobile phones for Indian users. A new marketing initiative from Google aimed to encourage mobile internet usage among Indian’s.
As part of the partnership users can get unlimited free access to Google + social networking site through any of the O-Zone Networks wi-fi hotspots across the country. Users will also get a chance to surf YouTube to watch videos, exclusive movie clips and promotions for 10 minutes each week at no extra charge. This offer will run for an initial period of three months, but for further usage of any other websites can only be accessed by paying for it.
Sanjeev (Bobby) Sarin, CEO, O-Zone Networks, said, “This association reinforces the fact that people are now realizing the power of Wi-Fi. We aim to provide a good Internet surfing experience to the customers. With India being the fastest growing Internet market in the world, people are very conscious of the content they view online. This will enable them to enjoy Google+ and YouTube free of cost at any of our hotspots.”
O-Zone network currently has 5,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across India, which includes coverage at selects outlets of Café Coffee Day, McDonalds, Café Oz, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Costa Coffee, Subway, OM Bookshop and many other places where users can access this free mobile internet service.
With the mass penetration and increase in smartphone usage in India, it seems to be a great marketing initiative from Google to leverage the young population to its services like Google+.
